WindChill Studios (WCS) is the professional face for the artwork and designs of Christopher Cowley, a Toronto based illustrator, graphic artist, web designer and jack of all trades. This site currently serves as a online portfolio for both personal and professional artwork in the hopes of attracting potential employers, clients and (hopefully positive) feedback and criticism.
The name WindChill was chosen as I've lived through many Canadian winters and it seemed a decent choice.
Where:
I'm currently residing in Whitby, Ontario (just east of Toronto)
Family Status:
Happily married to a wonderful woman, father of one beautiful and (very) energetic son, and wrangler of 3 dogs and 2 cats. If you're wondering why I look sleep deprived from time to time this should give you a clue :)
Education:
I hold an Honours BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) from York University and a Post-Graduate degree in Interactive MultiMedia from Sheridan College. Has several years experience doing web design and graphic arts/illustration.
My full resume is available upon request.
Employment:
Currently working as a Web Editor for Legal Aid Ontario. A real quality group of people to work with.
Long term goal:
Through the years I've developed a number of skills in the areas of design, illustration and the web. Ideally I'd like to find myself in a position/industry that will allow me to keep developing my skills and have a little fun with my work. Beyond that if I could find a way to work as a comics professional, preferably one good enough to pay the bills, I'd seriously look into that. Until then, practice, practice, practice.
If you have any questions, comments or observations please feel free to contact me (cgcowley@gmail.com).
Some have asked if I am able to do commission sketches and artwork. My answer is yes, I am willing provided I have the time in my schedule. Some things to note include:
Subject matter:
I'm willing to draw almost anything. There are a few exceptions to what I'm comfortable with though.
Ownership:
You will own the piece although I reserve the right to keep a copy of the piece for use in my portfolio.
Pricing:
Prices start at $15(cdn) and will vary depending on composition of the piece, size, materials used and so on.
If have any questions or are interested in getting me draw something for you just drop me a line.
